Proper exterior painting starts long before a brush touches the surface. We power wash, scrape loose paint, sand rough areas, caulk all gaps and joints, and apply a quality primer. Skipping these steps is why cheap paint jobs fail, we never skip them.
We use exterior-grade paints rated for Pennsylvania's climate, including UV-resistant, mildew-resistant, and self-priming formulas from Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams. The result is a finish that protects your investment for years.
How We Do It
Assess the surface, not just the house
Different siding fails differently. We look at what is peeling, what is chalking, where water is getting in, and price the prep off what we find rather than a per-square-foot guess.
Power wash
Dirt, chalk, mildew and loose material come off first. Paint will not bond to any of them, and this is the step most low bids shorten.
Scrape, sand, caulk, prime
Loose paint scraped back to a sound edge, rough areas sanded, gaps and joints caulked, bare wood and stains primed. On pre-1978 homes we follow lead-safe work practices.
Two finish coats
Applied in the right conditions. We do not paint in the rain, in the cold, or onto a surface that is still damp, even when it costs us a day.
Clean up and walk the property
Landscaping uncovered, debris removed, and a walk around the whole house with you before we leave.

What Affects the Price
We do not publish a price per square foot, because the number would be wrong for most homes. These are what actually move the estimate.
- Size of the home and number of storeys
- Siding type, wood, vinyl, aluminium, stucco or brick
- Condition of the existing paint and how much scraping it needs
- How much of the trim, soffit, shutters and doors are included
- Access, whether ladders are enough or staging is needed
- Any wood repair or replacement found during prep
How Long It Takes
Exterior projects vary with house size, siding type and how much prep is needed. A typical single-family home runs three to seven days. Weather can move that, and we would rather wait a day than paint onto a damp surface.

What time of year is best for exterior painting?
Late spring through autumn. Temperature and humidity both have to be right for the paint to cure properly, and autumn in Pennsylvania is often the best window of the year. Spring and summer book fastest, so call early for warm-weather work.
Can you paint vinyl and aluminium siding?
Yes, both can be painted successfully with the right preparation and the right product. Vinyl in particular needs paint formulated to allow for expansion, and a colour no darker than the original unless the product is rated for it.
Do you follow lead-safe practices on older homes?
Yes. For homes built before 1978, Pennsylvania requires contractors working with lead paint to be EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting certified. We follow lead-safe work practices on eligible properties.
