Exterior Painting in Allentown, PA
Family-owned since 1991. Licensed, insured, and based in Nazareth.
Allentown exteriors run from brick and stucco in the older districts to vinyl and aluminium on the newer builds, and those need different answers. Brick and stucco can be painted, but once painted they cannot easily go back, so we tell you honestly whether yours is a good candidate. Vinyl needs paint formulated for expansion and a colour no darker than the original unless the product is rated for it.
Allentown is the Lehigh Valley's largest city and home to an enormous variety of housing and commercial properties. Anthony's Painting serves homeowners and businesses throughout Allentown, from the historic row homes in the West End Historic District to newer suburban developments on the city's edges.
We are experienced with Allentown's older housing stock, including proper preparation of plaster walls, wood trim, and aging masonry. For commercial clients, we offer flexible scheduling and can work evenings or weekends to avoid disrupting operations.
How We Handle Exterior Painting Here
Assess the surface, not just the house
Different siding fails differently. We look at what is peeling, what is chalking, where water is getting in, and price the prep off what we find rather than a per-square-foot guess.
Power wash
Dirt, chalk, mildew and loose material come off first. Paint will not bond to any of them, and this is the step most low bids shorten.
Scrape, sand, caulk, prime
Loose paint scraped back to a sound edge, rough areas sanded, gaps and joints caulked, bare wood and stains primed. On pre-1978 homes we follow lead-safe work practices.
Two finish coats
Applied in the right conditions. We do not paint in the rain, in the cold, or onto a surface that is still damp, even when it costs us a day.
Clean up and walk the property
Landscaping uncovered, debris removed, and a walk around the whole house with you before we leave.

Exterior projects vary with house size, siding type and how much prep is needed. A typical single-family home runs three to seven days. Weather can move that, and we would rather wait a day than paint onto a damp surface.
“Our West End home has original plaster walls from the 1920s. Anthony's crew handled them perfectly. They filled the cracks, primed properly, and applied two coats that look flawless. Very reasonable price and they finished right on schedule.”
Questions from Allentown Homeowners
How long does exterior painting take?
Exterior projects vary based on house size, siding type, and prep work. A typical single-family home exterior takes three to seven days. We give you a specific timeline in your estimate.
What time of year is best for exterior painting?
Late spring through autumn. Temperature and humidity both have to be right for the paint to cure properly, and autumn in Pennsylvania is often the best window of the year. Spring and summer book fastest, so call early for warm-weather work.
Can you paint vinyl and aluminium siding?
Yes, both can be painted successfully with the right preparation and the right product. Vinyl in particular needs paint formulated to allow for expansion, and a colour no darker than the original unless the product is rated for it.
Do you cover all of Allentown?
Yes. We cover Allentown and the surrounding communities including Whitehall Township, Emmaus, Macungie, Wescosville, Fullerton, Catasauqua. We have worked across Lehigh County since 1991.
